Meet Jerry Casey !


Jerry Casey is a member of The Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI), International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM), and ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). Mrs. Casey studied privately with local (Columbus, Ohio) composer Marshall Barnes until his death. She has received the ASCAP Standard Award annually since 1996. Mrs. Casey is a former faculty member at Cumberland College, Williamsburg, Kentucky, and Edison Community College, Ft. Myers, Florida.

Mrs. Casey's commissioned works include a piano trio, Celebration 25!, for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Columbus Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI); a new setting of The Musicians of Bremen for Columbus Women's Orchestra; a one-movement string quartet, One, Yet Different, for the Ohio Federated Music Club's celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Federated Music Club's, and Conflict and Reconciliation for the String Sinfonia of Women in Music-Columbus. The latter two pieces were premiered in October, 1998.

Seven (A Suite for Orchestra) was recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and Gli intrighi d'amore, a woodwind quintet, was recorded by the Slovak Wind Quintet.

Her works have been performed several times in a number of venues in central Ohio including Columbus Women's Orchestra, the Now Music Festival at Capital University, the Women in Music - Columbus (WMC) Chamber Concert Series and Central Ohio Composers' Alliance (COCA).

Mrs. Casey, a teacher of piano and voice for over 40 years, has degrees from Texas Woman's University and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. She is nationally certified in piano and voice by Music Teachers' National Association (MTNA); she retired as a full member of National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS).
